I've owned quite a few Epi LPs over the years and I do like this one more than the others, but I'm positive the pickups are the prime reason. The brochure introducing the 1968 series Les Pauls show a Custom with just the words 'Les Paul' on the truss rod cover. Anyway, I'm going to play it tomorrow and I'll be playing it a lot over the next few weeks to make sure I want to keep it. But not the heaviest Lester I've ever owned. It's a LP, so it's heavier than my AL for sure.9lbs 14oz. It's from 2013, and for it's age I'd say it's been cared for pretty well. The top has faded and looks nice as-is, although I wish it were not quite so. Typical setup adjustments and I'm probably not done with that, but overall I'll give it a solid 8/10. By the way the pickups register 7.8k (neck) and 8.7k(bridge). Cleaned it up, strung it up and plugged it in my FM3 and messed with a preset I'm using tomorrow.I play in our worship band at church and my normal guitar is an EBMM Albert Lee H/S/S, so I had to make some eq adjustments for the differences in pickups. But I know that's an individual taste thing. So I fixed that, but it's still going to get replaced, and I'm definitely getting a pickguard for it. There are some pick swirls (it's definitely not "mint" to me) and the jackplate wasn't properly drilled at he factory. is dedicated to Les Paul guitars, whether its Gibson or Epiphone, we provide related information and news. I believe I used 4 applications of lemon oil to get it back to close to normal. Got it home and it HAS been sitting in it's case (as came with that model) for a long time. So I paid them and sent them on their way. These years were the only ones where the Les Paul Standard was built with a flamed maple top with a cherry sunburst finish, a stopbar. then I slacked the strings using a capo (yes I brought along my tool kit ) and pulled the neck pickup and was very happy to find the 57 I was expecting. The Les Paul Standards made by Gibson between 1958 and the end of 1960 represent the very pinnacle of American electric guitar craft and rank as the most collectable vintage guitars on the market.
Epiphone Thinline Guitars Gretsch-Talk Forum. I pulled the control cavity plate and saw CTS pots that looked unmolested, so I was encouraged. The Epiphone Les Paul Junior has all the DNA that made the original so beloved. I had neglected to ask if they were the original owners and he said "no, I bought it used from an individual several years ago was going to learn to play and just never did".
I met the folks selling this guitar in the parking lot of a local convenience store and looked it over.
